Collared Aracari

Acrylic on canvas, 12×16″ Original available; inquire

The Collared Aracari is a member of the Toucan family that ranges from northwestern South America into Central America.  These birds, known locally as tucancillo collarejo are occasional visitors to the neighborhood where we live in Panama.

I first observed them in our backyard in late September 2020 and snapped off a few pictures.  However, from around mid-October 2021 they started to visit regularly when the palm that grows next to the terrace where I work (my ‘outside home office’ during the COVID19 pandemic), started to fruit. Watch this short video I took of them feasting one afternoon.
